Summer Concert Season Heats Up: Hot Nights, Cool Tunes and Live Music in Brenham

If you think Brenham is just Blue Bell Ice Cream and rolling hills, you haven't been here on a Saturday night in July. This summer, Washington County's music scene is packed — from the 21st annual Hot Nights, Cool Tunes concert series to Grammy-nominated acts at the Barnhill Center and weekly jams at Brazos Valley Brewing. Here's your guide to the live music worth putting on the calendar.

Hot Nights, Cool Tunes: Three Saturdays of Free Music

The crown jewel of Brenham's summer music calendar is Hot Nights, Cool Tunes — three free Saturday night concerts in the Commerce Street Parking Lot in Historic Downtown Brenham. This year marks the 21st annual edition, and the lineup is one of the best in recent memory.

All concerts are free and start at 7:00 PM. Before each main act, the Summer Showcase features local talent from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in Alamo Alley. Bring a lawn chair, grab something from the food trucks, and settle in for an evening of music under the oaks. It's pure small-town Texas summer magic.

Touring Acts at the Barnhill Center

For those nights when you want something a little more polished, The Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theatre brings touring musicians and performers to an intimate Brenham venue. This summer features two standout shows:

• Dailey & Vincent (July 17, 7:00 PM) — Grammy-nominated country and bluegrass duo known for tight harmonies and high-energy shows. Tickets $80–$95.
• The Lovin' Spoonful (August 8, 7:00 PM) — Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members performing hits from "Daydream" to "Do You Believe in Magic." Tickets available through the Barnhill Center.

Friday Night Vibes at Brazos Valley Brewing

Every Friday night from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Brazos Valley Brewing Company hosts live music with food trucks on-site from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. It's become one of Brenham's most reliable weekly traditions — a laid-back outdoor setting where you can grab a craft beer, enjoy the tunes, and catch up with friends. Movies in the Park

The City of Brenham's free Movies in the Park series adds a few more nights of outdoor entertainment:

• July 12 — Shrek at Blue Bell Aquatic Center (including "Floats n' Flicks" from the pool!) at 6:00 PM
• July 31 — Madagascar at Henderson Park at 6:00 PM
