My name is De Wayne Mortensen II, and I am the curator and host of The Brenham Buzz. I am a Texas Sales Agent and California Real Estate Broker with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Hometown. I bring more than 20 years of real estate experience helping people buy and sell property in Texas and California.
Before Real Estate
Before becoming a REALTOR, I served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a Tactical Air Traffic Controller and Reserve Instructor. I am proud to have maintained a Top Secret Clearance throughout my service to our country. Following my military service, I earned a degree in Business Administration, followed by three years of law school at the American Institute of Law.
Building a Career in Real Estate
After law school, I worked as a Community Sales Representative for America's largest home builder. I later managed and served as Broker of Record for a real estate franchise with 107 agents across two offices in Southern California. That experience managing a large team gives me a unique perspective on every transaction, whether I am helping a first-time buyer or negotiating a complex deal.
I bring with me a vast array of real estate-focused problem-solving techniques and related life knowledge that allow me to expertly guide clients through their real estate ventures.
Community Leadership
My wife Teresa and I are active members of Toastmasters International. We co-founded the Brenham Toastmasters Club, which meets every Monday night from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Brenham Police Department, 1800 Longwood Drive. Toastmasters helps people become better speakers and leaders, and the club does not meet on holidays.
I also serve as a Blue Blazer with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, welcoming new businesses through ribbon cuttings and community events. Creating The Brenham Buzz is a natural extension of that community commitment. I saw a need for a single, reliable source of everything happening in Brenham and Washington County, so I built it.
Off the Clock
In my off time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Teresa and my family, golfing, and sourdough bread making. My approach to life mirrors my approach to real estate: patient, methodical, and committed to quality.
Why I Created The Brenham Buzz
Washington County is more than a place to live. It is a community with deep roots and a vibrant future. The Brenham Buzz is my way of giving back: a free, comprehensive resource that helps residents and visitors alike discover the best of what this area has to offer. From local events and dining to golf and chamber news, this site is built for the people of Brenham and Washington County.
Washington County & Beyond
I serve Washington County and surrounding South Central Texas communities, including portions of Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Fayette, Grimes, Lee, and Waller counties.
