August in Brenham: Back to School Bash, Wine & Cheese Stroll & End-of-Summer Fun
Summer in Brenham doesn't slow down in August. Between a back-to-school blowout, a beloved wine stroll in Chappell Hill, and some of the best live music of the season at The Barnhill Center, August is packed with reasons to get out and enjoy Washington County before the school bells start ringing. Here is your preview, brought to you by De Wayne at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Hometown.
August 7: Back to School Bash
The annual Back to School Bash returns to the Brenham Civic Center on August 7 with free school supplies, immunizations, and family activities. It's a community tradition that helps Washington County families gear up for the new school year — and it's completely free.
If you're a parent, mark this one in ink. The supplies go fast, and the immunization clinic is a convenient way to check that box before the first day of school.
August 8: Wine Stroll & The Lovin' Spoonful
Saturday, August 8 is one of the busiest days of the summer in Washington County. Two big events you won't want to miss:
5th Annual Chappell Hill Wine & Cheese Stroll
Stroll through the charming streets of historic Chappell Hill, sampling wines and artisan cheeses at participating shops and venues. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 day-of — check in at the Chappell Hill Visitor Center (5145 Main St) to receive your souvenir wine glass, wristband, and map. It's a beloved Washington County tradition and a wonderful way to spend a summer afternoon.
The Lovin' Spoonful at The Barnhill Center
That evening, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members The Lovin' Spoonful bring their catalog of classic hits to The Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre. From "Daydream" to "Do You Believe in Magic," this is a night of iconic American rock and pop. Get tickets through The Barnhill Center.
August 13: Chamber Networking — Tailgate 2026
The Washington County Chamber of Commerce hosts its monthly networking event, Tailgate 2026, on August 13 at 6:00 PM. Open to all Chamber members and guests, it's a great way to connect with local business leaders and learn about what's happening in the local economy.
August 29: Liverpool Legends — The Complete Beatles Experience
The summer concert season closes out in style with Liverpool Legends at The Barnhill Center on Saturday, August 29 at 7:00 PM. The most authentic Beatles tribute show in the world returns by popular demand with a complete Beatles experience — costumes, instruments, harmonies, and all the hits. Tickets start at approximately $96.
Looking Ahead: September & Beyond
August leads straight into one of the biggest events of the year:
- September 11–19 — Washington County Fair (the oldest county fair in Texas)
- September 12 — Car Show at the Fair
- September 19 — Wilson Fairchild: "Statler Made" at The Barnhill Center
- September 24 – October 11 — Unity Theatre: The Marvelous Wonderettes
Summer may be winding down, but Brenham's event calendar is just getting started. Whether you are strolling through Chappell Hill with a wine glass in hand, catching Liverpool Legends at the historic Simon Theatre, or gearing up for the Washington County Fair, there is no shortage of reasons to get out and enjoy the community. If you are thinking about making Washington County home, I would love to help you find the right place.
