Mark your calendars, Brenham. This coming weekend, Saturday August 8 and Sunday August 9, is shaping up to be the busiest and most exciting weekend of the summer in Washington County. From a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert downtown to a wine stroll through historic Chappell Hill and a community breakfast at the country club, there is something for everyone. Here is your complete weekend guide, brought to you by your friends at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Hometown.
Saturday, August 8: Two Big Events
Chappell Hill Wine & Cheese Stroll — 11 AM - 4 PM
The 5th Annual Chappell Hill Wine & Cheese Stroll transforms historic downtown Chappell Hill into a tasting paradise. Ticket holders stroll from shop to shop along Main Street, sampling wines from around the world paired with artisan cheeses. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. Check in at the Visitor Center at 5145 Main Street. This is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon exploring one of Washington County's most charming communities.
The Lovin' Spoonful at The Barnhill Center — 7 PM
Back in downtown Brenham, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members The Lovin' Spoonful take the stage at The Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre. From "Do You Believe in Magic" to "Summer in the City" and "Daydream," this is a night of iconic American music. Tickets are available through SimpleTix and tend to sell out, so grab yours early.
Sunday, August 9: Wake Up to Community
Sunday Breakfast at Brenham Country Club — 10 AM - 1 PM
Wind down from a busy weekend with the monthly Sunday Breakfast at the historic Brenham Country Club. This community meal is open to the public and offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you are a lifelong resident or new to the area, it is a great place to meet neighbors and enjoy a relaxing Sunday morning.
Plan Your Weekend
With so much happening, a little planning goes a long way. If you are heading to Chappell Hill, aim to arrive early for the best parking and to beat the crowds. For the Lovin' Spoonful concert, downtown Brenham has plenty of dining options within walking distance of The Barnhill Center.
This is the kind of weekend that reminds you why Washington County is such a special place to live. There is always something happening, always a reason to gather with friends and neighbors. And if you have been thinking about putting down roots here, there is no better time to start looking at homes with someone who knows the community inside and out.
